Burton Bradstock West Dorset

Burton Bradstock nestles behind the cliffs, part of the Bride Valley conservation area.  The village centered in the narrow streets around the C14th Church of St Mary, offers a glimpse into a bygone age with its’ many 16th & 17th century thatched & stone cottages.  Today the Burton Bradstock has a thriving community, with a Primary School, Post Office and Farm Shop, Community library, a general shop and garage and two pubs.  The Three Horseshoes and Anchor Inn offer a variety of real ales and good food throughout the year and are both dog friendly.  For the younger generation there is a small adventure playground and playing field.

Hive Beach is a short walk from the village.  The Seaside Boarding House and Hive Beach Café overlook the Beach and Lyme Bay.  There is a seasonal restriction for dogs, but access is allowed to the neighbouring beaches where they are welcome all year.  Parking is available in the National Trust Car park.next to Hive beach.

There are numerous walks along the coastline and in the surrounding countryside.  The cliffs, which are a rich source of fossils, form part of the World Heritage Jurassic Coast and are considered an area of outstanding natural beauty.

On the outskirts of Burton Bradstock, Bridport & West Dorset Golf Club welcomes visiting golfers.  The Jurassic Fun Centre is open to all outside the peak summer holiday period, with swimming pools, sauna & steam rooms, and six ten pin bowling lanes.

Vine Cottage provides an ideal base for visiting the local town of Bridport (with its twice weekly market), or its fishing harbour at West Bay.  The Tropical Gardens and Swannery at Abbotsbury, and the neighbouring town of Lyme Regis are all easily accessible.
